Being Mobile

Seventy three, loving life, loving being retired and loving being mobil ❤

I’m a New Zealander (we call ourselves Kiwis) and my children have given me the most beautiful grandchildren who live in Australia ❤

I have travelled much of New Zealand over the years but have never had the time to do it at my leisure because of family and employment commitments. In the last 15 years I have had some trips overseas and am now ready to explore  my own country in depth in my 2002 Ducato camper van. While I still work this is limited and carefully planned but I needed to work to have my adventures (until the mortgage is paid off).

I had lots of short trips away, 3 days to a week. I would often have my Monday office days as mobile days. I was fortunate I could do that.

In 2016 I spent 4 weeks in the South Island with my friend Dasha, who lives in America, and in November I had another 4 weeks there on my own.

In March 2017 I travelled to Canberra to see my family and on to have a week in Melbourne. While in Canberra I had an accident which curtailed my activities or 3 years.

In February 2020, I was ready to roll again. I had resigned from work in May 2019 , ready to live life fully. The Ducato required work, I started and then along came Covid-19. We were lucky in New Zealand that with being surrounded by water, our early closing of the borders and the excellent attitude and commitment of Kiwis we managed to eradicate it in just a few months with a small death toll. It was hard work, everything closed except for essential shrives, grocery stores, gas stations and some 7/11s. No fast foods, no stores open, schools shut and everyone had to stay at home. In June I was able to continue and in July had may first 3 days away – 50 kilometres away. It was great.

I live in the North Island, about 90 minutes north of Wellington on the west coast. Life is good ❤
